This Halloween, Don't Forget to Remember Harry Potter's Parents' Death

Curb those Halloween spirits -- today is a day of mourning. At least if you're a 'Harry Potter' fan. Yes, right below the trending topic of "Happy Halloween Everyone" on Twitter is "RIP James and Lily Potter." On a fictional Oct. 31 thirty years ago, the couple sacrificed their lives for their son, Harry. Little did they know that the boy would grow up to be the chosen one and save the entire wizarding world from the evil Lord Voldemort. The Hollywood Reporter points out that some 'Potter' fan sites will be planning a moment of silence today at 3 p.m. GMT (a.k.a. 11 p.m. EDT). The only man who won't be crying? Obviously, Lord Voldemort. However, perhaps the Dark Lord is in a cheerier mood today. According to his Twitter account (yes, Voldemort has a Twitter account), the evil Wizard tweeted "Happy Halloween. Your treat is that I let you live." So, while you're dressing up in your little costumes and going to grab your free candy, just remember that James and Lily Potter died for your right to trick-or-treat. Shame, Tinker, Tailor And Tyrannosaur Lead Brit Indie Award Nominations

The three UK movies have received seven nods apiece for this years Mot British Independent Film Awards, due to take place in London on December 4. Each of them is battling for Best British Film Award, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor/Actress. The nominations were announced in London this morning. First official look at Ryan Gosling in The Place Beyond The Pines

Lindsay Lohans Father Arrested Again

Tampa police responded to a 911 call from Michael Lohans on-and-off girlfriend early Thursday. Kate Major told police Lohan, 51, made a harassing phone call to her shortly after being released from jail Wednesday afternoon. Lohan called again while police were at Majors condo. Major, 28, put the call on speaker so police could listen. After hearing what Lohan said, the police department notified the Hillsborough County State Attorneys Office of a violation of Judge Walter Heinrichs pre-trial release orders that he stay away from Major and an arrest order was authorized. Police went to the Tahitian Inn in Tampa, where Lohan was reportedly staying. According to a news release from police, Lohan spotted the officers and jumped off a third-floor balcony in an attempt to escape. Lohan was arrested after a short pursuit on foot. He was taken into police custody and taken to the Hillsborough County Jail. There, deputies suspected he may have broken his foot when he jumped off the balcony, so he was taken to Tampa General Hospital for evaluation. Authorities said he will be returned to the jail once hes been cleared by doctors. Lohan was arrested Tuesday on domestic violence charges involving Major, a former reporter for the Star tabloid. Police say he grabbed her arms and pushed her down multiple times during a daylong argument. When Lohan was released from jail Wednesday, he said he didnt do anything and the charges were Majors way of making money. The St. Petersburg Times (http://bit.ly/txPQkt ) reported that Lohan claimed Major set him up to be overheard by police Thursday. She needs help, she calls me, and Im a sucker so I call her back. Im an idiot, Lohan said as he was being put into the back of a police cruiser. In July, a misdemeanor domestic violence charge against Lohan stemming from a fight with Major was dismissed in Los Angeles after she failed to show up for the trial. Lohans attorney said Major declined to cooperate to avoid a court spectacle. Lohan has a history of arrests in NY over allegations of harassment from ex-girlfriends. Meanwhile, his daughter Lindsay Lohan could also return to jail in California after a judge last week ruled she violated probation involving a community service assignment. A Nov. 2 court date was set to decide whether Lindsay Lohan should be jailed. The 25-year-old actress was given probation for a 2007 drunken driving case and a misdemeanor theft case this year. Nintendo to Report First-Ever Annual Loss

NY - Video game company Nintendo Co. said Thursday that it expects to report its first-ever annual loss for the current fiscal year. The Japanese company and creator of the Super Mario Bros. gaming franchise slashed its full fiscal year earnings forecast for the second time citing a rise in the yen that was "beyond expectation level," as well as weaker-than-expected sales of Nintendo DS hardware and Nintendo 3DS gaming software. Nintendo's 3DS handheld games device, launched this year, wasn't the hoped-for hit, leading to price cuts and lower earnings expectations. Nintendo now projects an annual loss of 20 billion yen and a full-year profit from operations of 1 billion yen, down 99.4 percent from the year-ago period. The company also sees full fiscal year revenue of 790 billion yen, down 22 percent. The firm's previous forecast from late July had called for a fiscal year profit of 20 billion yen, 35 billion in operating profit and 900 billion yen in revenue. . For the six months ended Sept. 30, Nintendo on Thursday reported a 41 percent decline in revenue to 215.7 billion yen and a loss of 70.3 billion yen, a multiple of the year-ago loss of 2.0 billion. "I do not know the defendant, I've not had any form of relationship with the defendant nor have I had any form of contact by phone or by email, or by any other way, with the defendant," Madonna's statement reads. "In particular, I've never given the defendant permission to enter the premises or any of my other premises." Last March, Matlok was caught in Madonna's London home by her security with several of the singer's possessions. It was later revealed that he also broke into Ritchie's country residence last year and tried on his clothes. "It is extremely unsettling to know that, despite the extensive security I have, he has been able to break into two of my residential properties," the singer's statement goes on to say. Matlok has been ordered to a psychiatric hospital for an indefinite amount of time as the judge feels he poses a risk to Madonna's safety. He has also been ordered to stay 100 meters (a little more than a half a mile) away from the singer and her properties. The singer has been the center of controversy recently. This news follows reports that she was booed at a London premiere of her film W.E., and her brother's admission that he is homeless. TNT cancels 'Memphis Beat'

'Memphis Beat'TNT is no longer walking the "Memphis Beat," canceling the Jason Lee starrer after two seasons. The decision doesn't leave exec producers Joshua Harto and Liz Garcia out of work: The pair this week sold an hourlong drama, 1960s Vegas-set "The Meadows," to NBC via Stuber Pictures and Universal TV."Beat" finished its second 10-episode season in August. It drew 4 million viewers for its finale, its highest total since its series premiere in June 2010, but that wasn't enough to save the series, which drew 3 million for its season-two premiere this summer and stayed around that number most of the remainder of its run. Renee Zellweger, Lifetime Team for Hollywood Period Drama

The female-skewing cable network has picked up Cinnamon Girl, a 1960s drama loosely based on Zellweger's journey from small-town Texas to Hollywood. Created by Zellweger and Anthony Tambakis (Warrior), Cinnamon Girl will revolve around four girls as they come of age during the cultural revolution of the late 1960s and early 1970s in Los Angeles. The drama will explore Cassie, Lola, Penny and Lou's lives as they reach a crossroads of the era's political, artistic, social and sexual rebellions. "Renee's passion, clarity of character and deep emotion for this project immediately transported us to the late '60s/early '70s and created a resonance with us wanting to relive that energy," Lifetime president and GM Nancy Dubuc said in a statement announcing the news Wednesday. "Cinnamon Girl is a game changer for our network and is exactly the type of show we want to deliver." Zellweger and Gavin O'Connor (Warrior) will executive produce, with the Bridget Jones actress co-writing the story alongside Tambakis, who will pen the script. O'Connor will direct with Danny Bramson (Jerry McGuire) serving as producer and music supervisor. "We're thrilled to be partnering with Nancy Dubuc and Rob Sharenow, who share our enthusiasm and creative intentions, and we believe the timing is perfect for Cinnamon Girl to have found a home at Lifetime during this transformative juncture at the network," Zellweger said. "We're really looking forward to making Cinnamon Girl come to life as part of their campaign to expand audience expectations and redefine what it means to be a Lifetime show." The period drama marks Zellweger's second project with Lifetime. Moviegoers in the NY Film Festival filled Alice Tully Hall to capacity March. 5 for The new sony Pictures Classics' "A Harmful Method," with helmer David Cronenberg, film writer Christopher Hampton and star Michael Fassbender one of the participants. The afterparty was in the Empire Hotel, where visitors came outdoors-air roof restaurant drinking a novelty cocktail, properly known as, because of the movie they'd just seen, Bitter and Twisted (grapefruit/vodka/bitters). Because the movie is about Freud, Jung, and Jung's patient-mistress Sabina Spielrein, everybody associated with "A Harmful Method" was willing to speak psychoanalysis. Fassbender, thinking to his previous movie assignment "X-Males," thought his Magneto wouldn't say anything around the couch. "He'd just start having fun with individuals little metal ball devices that everybody has." Regarding Jung, "I'd want to speak to him about his sex with Sabina," Cronenberg stated. Snoop Dogg Family Comedy Lands at NBC

Snoop Dogg can be a step closer to adding sitcom star to his already broad resume. The rapper, along with veteran sitcom producer Don Reo (My Partner and kids, two and a half Males), withwhom he did an arc for on Fox'sBrothers, has offered a family group comedy pitch to NBC.The project concentrates on a parent or gaurdian (Snoop) and also the number of misfit children. The multi-cam half an hour, which originates fromWarner Bros. TV, counts Reo just like a author and executive producer, with Snoop attached just like a producer and star. Ted Chung(Dogg During The Night) may even be the producer round the project.
